 ONGOING VOLUNTEER/SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITIES

ST PETERS COMMUNITY LUNCH

The huge need this week is water (16oz), granolas, snack size chips and sandwiches for the Lunch Program. Sign ups are extremely low for sandwiches, particularly savory sandwiches (with lunch meat: turkey, ham) with cheese or without. Please no condiments and no lettuce and tomato. Please help!
Sandwiches must be full size on bread - no sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls or slider rolls.
Sandwiches must be individually wrapped.

St Peters Community Lunch Program is a soup kitchen located in Freehold Boro – 33 Throckmorton Street. It operates every Wednesday and Thursday- every week.  All Year. They are in need of sandwiches, snack sized chips, granola bars, 16oz bottles of water, fresh fruit and fruit cups.

Please consider getting your friend groups together and make some sandwiches. You will all earn community service hours and you will help fill a huge need.

Please help fill the slots. Please note that even when all the slots are filled, sandwiches and supplies are always needed.

The process is very easy.  Just gather your donations, make sandwiches (any kind without condiments, lettuce, tomato, or mayo or lettuce). That helps them keep better. You can also donate supplies. Please take a picture and list what you donated for that week and then email Miss Jeanne at jmarinello@strobert.cc

Please include WHO has done the service and WHAT has been donated (in a list and by attaching a picture).

This donation will be converted into a service certificate that reflects the donation.

The Item to Hour Breakdown is as follows:

  • Every 10 Sandwiches = 2 Service Hours
  • Every 20 Snack Size Chips = 1 Service Hour
  • Every 20 Granola Bars = 1 Service Hour
  • Every 20 Fruit Cups = 1 Service Hour
  • Every 20 Bottles of Water (16oz) = 1 service hour
  • Every 10 pieces of Fresh Fruit = 1 Service Hour – you must let me know the number of pieces of fruit (not by the pound).
*PLEASE NOTE*  Fresh fruit for service hours are apples, oranges, pears, bananas. Grapes will not be accepted.
The object is that we have a good quantity so that each piece of fruit can go in a lunch. Lately people are donating by the pound, and that doesn't represent the quantity of fruit. So hours can't be offered if how many pieces of fruit is not listed.
The Link to Sign Up is: HERE

This link is also a sign up link for volunteers, so look at your school schedule, and if you have any days off that coincide with a day St. Peter's community lunch is taking place, you can sign up via the link to be a volunteer and give out the lunches and help.

For sandwiches and supplies even when all slots are filled  - everything is still needed so you can also drop it off without signing up.

DROPPING OFF ITEMS TO ST PETERS COMMUNITY LUNCH – 33 THROCKMORTON STREET – FREEHOLD

Sandwich and Supply Drop off is Every Wednesday and Thursday – from 1030am – 1130am at St Peters Episcopal Church – located at 33 Throckmorton Street – the big White Building on Throckmorton Street – drop off is curbside – there are Volunteers waiting to take your donations – no need to get out of your vehicle.  You make a right into the driveway located immediately after the building as you pull up – there you will see volunteers and a long table.

Sandwiches of all kinds are needed – please individually wrap/ziplock them with no condiments.  Please note for Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich makers – please be generous with the spreads of peanut butter and jelly.  For many people it is the only meal of the day.  Thank you so much!

DROPPING OFF ITEMS AT MY HOME

If Drop off times at St Peters do not work for you – you can contact me and drop off at my house on Tuesday afternoon/ night for Wednesday and on Wednesday afternoon/ night for Thursday.  PLEASE NOTE:  I DO NOT TAKE WATER DONATIONS AT MY HOUSE(it is too heavy for me to bring it back and forth).  Water donations can be brought in person to St Peters Community  Lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1030am – 1130am.

If you drop items off at my house – please put your name on everything dropped off so I know who to issue the service certificate to – and please email me after you drop off the items to my house and list what was dropped off as well as attach a picture.  If you need my address – please email me at this email address – jmarinello@strobert.cc

I get a lot of bags of donations over the two days of the week that they get collected,  and I want to make the process as easy as possible for all of us.  Please put the first and last name of the person that gets the service certificate on the bags/items.   Please take a picture of the donation, please email me with a list of  what was dropped off, and please include – number of sandwiches, number of granolas, number of fruit cups, number of pieces of fruit. (please do not put it as pounds because the service hours are broken out by number of items). Please remember that sandwiches should not include condiments, lettuce or tomatoes because the goal is that they keep better when they are plain.  They should be individually wrapped/ziplocked.   I do not take water at my home because it is too heavy for me to carry back and forth. I thank you all so much for understanding.  If you have any questions – please feel free to ask me and I will be happy to answer any questions. Please also understand that some weeks I get a lot of food donations for St Peters so it might take a few days for me to send you the service certificate -usually by the end of the week everyone should have their service certificates so if the weekend comes and you haven’t received the certificate – please let me know.  Sometimes it does go to the spam folder so please check that first before you email me. We all make a great team working together to help this great program and I thank everyone for their immense generosity, patience and support.  **** Also please do not put loose pieces of ice in the bags they drip onto everything.  Thank you so much!

DROPPING OFF ITEMS AT ST. ROBERT'S

Non-perishable items (snack size chips, granola bars, fruit cups, water) can also be dropped off in the Gathering Area of St Roberts- 61 Georgia Road (which is the room right before the main Church room) you walk into the Church and in the right-hand corner of that room is the drop off area for non-perishable donations.  (please do not leave pieces of fresh fruit or sandwiches in the gathering area of St Roberts because there is no one that will bring it to St Peters)
